En rejetant dos à dos la fiction d’une organisation scientifique du travail et les discours misérabilistes sur la condition ouvrière, Philippe Bernoux jette les bases d’une théorie de l’appropriation du travail qui a influencé ensuite de nombreux observateurs des mondes productifs contemporains. Plus que jamais d’actualité, cet ouvrage initialement publié chez Privat en 1981, est enrichi de textes inédits qui permettront de resituer le contexte de cette recherche et d’en saisir les échos contemporains. Cette nouvelle édition éclairera toutes celles et tous ceux qui portent intérêt au travail et à ses mutations (syndicalistes, étudiantes et étudiants, femmes et hommes d'entreprises, etc., et bien sûr spécialistes des sciences sociales du travail). This book, which has now become a classic of the French sociology of work, is the result of an empirical investigation by participant observation of workshop work in a large metallurgical company in Lyon in the 1970s. By rejecting the fiction of a scientific organisation of work and the miserabilist discourses on the condition of the working class, Bernoux lays the foundations of a theory of the appropriation of work that subsequently influenced many observers of the contemporary productive worlds. More relevant than ever, this book originally published by Privat in 1981 has been expanded with previously unpublished texts that provide context for this research and highlight its contemporary relevance.
