| Summary, etc. | Cette édition critique de la première tragédie consacrée en France au personnage de Spartacus permet de situer Bernard-Joseph Saurin dans le milieu intellectuel des Encyclopédistes. Sa tragédie de 1760, remaniée en 1769, se propose « école publique de morale », s’inscrivant pleinement dans le programme idéologique et artistique des Lumières. Les trahisons faites par Saurin sur le Spartacus historique sont à replacer dans l’histoire de la construction de l’identité nationale portée par le Tiers-Etat à l’horizon de la Guerre de Sept ans. Elles sont à inscrire dans l’invention du grand homme proposée par le XVIIIe siècle, notamment par les tragédies à « propagande philosophique » post-voltairiennes. This critical edition of the first tragedy in France devoted to the character of Spartacus places Bernard-Joseph Saurin in the intellectual milieu of the Encyclopedists. His tragedy of 1760, reworked in 1769, offers itself a "public school of morals", fully subscribing to the ideological and artistic program of the Enlightenment. The betrayals made by Saurin on the historic Spartacus are to be placed in the history of the construction of the national identity carried by the Third State on the horizon of the Seven Years' War. They are part of the invention of the great man made in the 18th century, notably in the post-Voltairean “philosophical propaganda” tragedies. Esta edición crítica de la primera tragedia en Francia dedicada al personaje de Spartacus permite colocar a Bernard-Joseph Saurin en el medio intelectual de los Enciclopedistas. Su tragedia de 1760, reescribita en 1769, se ofrece como una "escuela pública de moral", que se suscribe plenamente al programa ideológico y artístico del siglo XVIII.
